These ceramic works are by Maryam Badiei and explore the relationship between material, pattern, and cultural memory through digital fabrication and clay 3D printing.

Developed at the Digital Clay Lab in the College of Design at NC State University, the works reinterpret traditional motifs, architectural ornament, textiles, and repetitive systems through contemporary ceramic processes. Rather than directly reproducing historical patterns, Maryam uses computational design, layered clay deposition, glaze, and material experimentation to create new surface languages.

Texture, rhythm, color, and repetition become ways of connecting past and present, allowing cultural references to emerge through both digital processes and the natural behavior of clay. Each piece reflects an ongoing investigation into how ceramic fabrication can carry identity, place, and memory while opening new possibilities for architectural and artistic expression.
